Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Your life story belongs to you alone. This policy explains how EchoTale collects, uses, stores and protects your personal information, and the rights you have. Our promise: everything is private by default and never published without your authorisation.

01Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the recording and book-making service:

  • Account: phone number or sign-in credentials, for login and recovery.
  • Story content: your voice recordings, drafts and uploaded photos, used to compile your book.
  • Order details: recipient name, address and contact, used solely for shipping printed books.
  • Device and logs: basic access logs for security and troubleshooting.

02How We Use It

Your information is used only to provide and improve the memoir service: transcription and AI-assisted drafting, editing and typesetting, printing and shipping, audiobook generation, and essential service notifications. We never sell your personal information, and never use your stories for anything beyond the service — including model training.

03Recordings and Voice Cloning

Original recordings are used only for transcription and the scan-to-listen feature. Voice cloning happens only with your separate, explicit consent; the voice model is used solely to produce the audiobook of your own memoir and nothing else. You may request deletion of your voice model at any time.

04Who Can See Your Content

All stories and books are private by default, visible only to you and the family members you invite. A memoir enters the public library only with your explicit authorisation, which you can withdraw at any time; it will then be taken offline within a reasonable period.

05Storage and Security

Data is stored encrypted on cloud servers and transmitted over HTTPS. We apply access control, tiered permissions and audit logging to prevent unauthorised access. If a security incident may affect your rights, we will notify you as required by law.

06Your Rights

You may exercise the following rights at any time via account settings or by contacting us:

  • Access and correct your personal information and story content.
  • Export your drafts and recordings.
  • Delete your account and all data, including your voice model, except where law requires retention.
  • Withdraw authorisation for public library display.

07Minors and Third Parties

The service is intended for adults. Where we rely on third parties (transcription, printing, logistics), we share only the information necessary and require equivalent protection standards.

08Policy Updates

We may revise this policy from time to time; material changes will be announced prominently on the site. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
